Choose how melee direction relates to the camera
To use the earlier melee control style, open settings and disable “Free Camera in Melee Combat”. Update 1.02 gives that exact instruction. With the newer style described there, the character attacks the nearest enemy in the direction of movement, regardless of camera position.

Which behavior are you trying to change?
If moving toward an enemy matters more than where the camera looks, the movement-directed style is the intended design described in 1.02. If you prefer the earlier camera-linked behavior, disable the named option. Neither setting establishes a complete lock-on system or guarantees which of several nearby enemies will be hit in every situation.
Compare one setting at a time
- Note the current value of Free Camera in Melee Combat in the game settings.
- Keep the same supported weapon setup so you are comparing targeting style rather than equipment compatibility.
- Change only that option and observe how movement direction and camera orientation affect an ordinary melee action in a low-risk situation.
- Keep the style you prefer or restore the recorded value. Do not interpret a faster camera as a targeting-rule change.
Use a different branch for a different symptom
- A camera that turns too quickly or a cursor leaving the window belongs to mouse and cursor settings.
- Rolling instead of blocking belongs to the versioned blocking branches.
- A weapon that is not drawn or is invisible belongs to equipment diagnosis.
Is there a separate target-lock button?
In the October 21 answer to a player who kept overshooting enemies, the developer says targets are selected with the character’s movement inputs. That supports directional target selection; it does not document a separate lock-on key or permanent target cycle. Use the named camera-style option for the preference it actually controls, and the current build’s prompts for input. We do not invent a lock button from another action RPG.
If the named setting is absent
The source is the July 6 PC Demo announcement, reread on November 3. Record the build, edition and settings actually present rather than inventing a substitute menu or controller button. The reviewed later notes do not provide a complete current binding list.
You have the intended control style when…
You can distinguish camera movement from melee targeting, know which option you changed and can return to the previous setting if needed.
