Check a gamepad menu issue against the current build

Evidence checked November 3, 2026 (Pacific) · PC Demo and announced release; original source dates retained

The short answer

The Steam listing advertises full controller support, but an October 31 Demo report describes gamepad trouble equipping and removing armor in the item menu. The developer acknowledged more work was needed. Version 1.06 subsequently improves interface navigation; that does not prove every device and menu case is fixed.

Identify where input fails

Separate movement/combat from inventory focus, selecting an item and confirming equip/unequip. A working stick in the world does not establish that the same device can navigate every menu in your installed build. Note whether the interface shows your expected device prompts.

A bounded current-build check

  1. Note the controller model, connection method, displayed game version and edition.
  2. Compare the behavior with the 1.06 interface-navigation announcement, rather than assuming an October report applies unchanged.
  3. In a low-risk inventory situation, identify whether focus moves, the intended item is selected and the shown confirmation action works.
  4. If keyboard/mouse is available, compare that same menu action to separate the equipment rule from the gamepad interface. This is a diagnostic comparison, not a guaranteed repair.

Make sure the requested equipment action is valid

A long sword plus a short sword is not the developer’s stated two-sword pairing; consult weapon compatibility before labeling a missing held item as a controller bug. Potion assignment and inventory quantity are also separate from menu navigation; see quick-use slots.

If a newer build still fails

Report the exact menu, item, selected focus and observed result with device/build details. No evidence here establishes a universal Steam Input toggle, a fixed console mapping, save deletion or a reinstall cure. “Full support” in store metadata and a current successful interaction are different kinds of evidence.

You have a useful result when…

You can identify the failing interface action and whether it differs by device or equipment setup. Keep that result separate from a claim that the entire controller path is broken or fully repaired.

Sources & version

Source-based explanation; no independent gameplay or file-transfer test. Original source dates retain their scope. Later notes establish the changes they explicitly describe; silence is not proof that every mechanic stayed identical.
